Yesterday’s report confirming the US Congress has secretly funded sending arms to Syrian rebels through the rest of this fiscal year are having a major, deleterious impact on peace talks in Geneva, and may be threatening the viability of those talks.
The revelation dramatically undercut US claims that Geneva II was supposed to settle the conflict with a peaceful transition of power, and officials say there was concern that the US is overtly trying to undermine the deal.
The afternoon was supposed to center around talks about the “transition,” with the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) to present their proposal. Instead, afternoon talks were cancelled outright as all the focus was on the US arms shipments.
The State Department downplayed the problem, insisting they support the “moderate opposition,” but in a rebellion dominated by al-Qaeda, it isn’t even clear who that is anymore, and the specter of the US throwing more arms into the conflict is not welcome, no matter the excuse.
Manipulative politics, what els did you expect from a manipulative politician.
Without foreign arms, fighters and money supply there would be no fighting for a long time. Syrians are just used by outside powers in meddling and playing their geopolitical games.
So much for the 'humanitarian' aspect of US Aid. What's 'non-lethal- assistance? Guns without ammo?
The US role in arming and training the rebels in sanctuaries, and shipping out ex-Libyan weapons, has been open and obvious for anyone willing to see. It is as "secret" as the US involvement in Laos during the Vietnam War, deniable but known.
There is no secular element to the terrorist war being waged against Syria. They are Islamic fundamentalists, whom the USA has used now five times to destroy countries.

These things the US says are just public relations crap. They are trying to weaken Syria so they can then move on to increasing their violence against Iran, which already includes terrorism, dictatorial force, and massive collective punishment of civilians.
When the British colonists learned there were resources on the land they promised to Native Americans, they would suddenly need to cleanse the Natives from the land and take it over for "national security" reasons.
Notice Syria is about US "national security". So is Iran. So is Saudi Arabia.
The barbarian hoards that took over North America, who were nothing more than an separate extension of the British empire, are simply doing all over the world what they started in North America: http://empireslayer.blogspot.com/2014/01/what-usa…
But but bjut…. We're arming the good al-Qaeda, the moderate al-Qaeda! Our friends in the al-Nusra Front and the Ahrar al-Sham, not the bad Islamic State! The moderate sort of al-Qaeda that would just fly a jetliner into a tower, rather than beheading the infidel pilot and segregating the passengers by gender first!
Best…response…ever.
Do you mind if I use it in a future episode of my comic strip?
Feel free!
What would the U.S.say when China would support Militia's with weapons?
It is like in the 80's as the Contra's in Nicaragua were supported and they did "their work"….
